"The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned"

Hello, friends!

Welcome to my little corner on the Internet! Let me introduce myself, I’m Annie. I’m a mom of three and reside in Haslett, MI (close to Lansing). When I’m not running my kids to sports, the library, school events, etc., you can most likely find me with a cup of coffee in hand and book in the other. I love historical fiction and fantasy (Outlander, A Court of Thorn and Roses, 4th Wing are all favorites!). If you have a must-read, let me know.

My kiddos are the reason that I picked up my camera in the first place. While I have always been drawn to art and photography, it was looking at life thru the lens of motherhood that really ignited my passion for picking up a camera. I constantly feel the tension of watching time slip thru my fingers as my kids grow each day, of wanting to document the heck out of every little detail, even while cheering on and celebrating each new stage of childhood.

I often joke with my husband that my love language is actually photos. If he wants to make me swoon, booking me a photo session with someone I love, is the way to make my excitement to be off the charts. For example, for my birthday/Mother’s Day/Christmas gift, I asked for a session with the uber talented Maggie Reckhammer, an amazing artist out of Iowa. Check out her site: https://www.maggierechkemmer.com as she is a constant inspiration to me.

I had taken an online workshop with her and have gotten to know her thru Unraveled Academy, an education platform for photogs (https://www.theunraveledacademy.com). So when I heard she was traveling cross-county and shooting sessions in Detroit, I couldn’t imagine a better gift. Here are a few of my favorites of my own special party of 5.

Pretty sure that bottom one needs to be our Christmas card this year.

Because my family saves up and invests in photos, I understand and do not take lightly that it is such an incredible honor for my families to not only invite me into their family’s inner circle, to invest in my experience, but to allow me to capture these priceless and fleeting moments. Photos are something that only grow in value as we move farther and farther from a moment. How else can we instantly be transported back to how it feels to dance with a loved one, to trace a child’s hand on yours, to weave flowers into your daughter’s hair, or tickle your son? From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

If you want to see more of my own kiddos and how they inspire me, check out some of my personal work below.

And to leave you, here s one of my favorites of my two oldest from several years ago. I titled it, “Children of the Mud”.

Just know a little dirt at a session doesn’t scare me after this! So feel free to bring me all the kiddos that love the great outdoors and getting dirty!

Cheers, my friends!
