As a photographer, capturing motherhood is my passion. There’s something truly special about the connection between a mother and her child. As a mom, I know the pressure of getting photos done with my kids, of wanting to look good (and the temptation to put off the photos until I lose the weight) but I try to periodically make sure to get in front of the camera with my kids. Sometimes, I take photos with all 3 of them and other times, it is just one kiddo and me. Here are some of my favorites from an impromptu 10 minute session one evening last fall. My daughter and I threw on dresses (skipped makeup and shoes) and ran across the street for a few minutes of play. I have found that while I may struggle in the moment with my own body, I never regret taking photos with my kids. In fact, as time goes on and I look back on different moments, I’m often much kinder to myself and treasure seeing myself if photos loving on my kids at each stage of their lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mother-daughter sessions are unlike any other. They’re not just about the smiles and outfits (thought those are fun, too!). Instead, they are about documenting a relationship that evolves. From the nurturing care of a mom holding her little girl to friendship that blossoms as daughters grow, these session reflect all stages of this remarkable bond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I edit my own photos, I love to incorporate a lot of grain. It is a personal preference. If you like this look, be sure to tell me, as it helps me know that you wish to either incorporate grain (or leave it off) in your own gallery.
